Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies (RMPS)
Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies (RMPS) is taught as a core subject at Levenmouth Academy from S1 – S4 for one period a week. We also offer it as an elective choice in the Broad General Education for S3 pupils, as well as a National 3, 4, 5 and Higher qualification in the senior phase.
RMPS allows pupils to learn about, and explore different beliefs, practices and cultures and develop understanding and tolerance. It looks at moral issues, such as capital punishment, to allow pupils to consider different opinions and consider their own reasoned responses and it turns pupils in to philosophers! Philosophers who consider ultimate questions like how did the universe begin?
