Personal and Social Education
In PSE we cover a broad range of topics through S1 to S6. The information in this website demonstrates and provides examples of what and how we teach in each year group. We use pupil comments to adapt and keep courses fresh and relevant to the needs of our young people.
PSE is taught in classes and delivered by Pupil Support teachers and other subject teachers, 1 period a week. We use a variety of teaching methods when planning and implementing our curriculum in PSE:
- Group work
- DVD’s/Internet clips
- Case Studies
- External Speakers
- Role Play
Should you feel that you could contribute to any of the topic areas, or if you have queries or ideas about different topics that could be covered, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the school.
The Health and Wellbeing strand of the curriculum is organised onto six key topic areas, most of which are covered by PSE at Levenmouth Academy.
1. Mental, Emotional, Social and Physical Wellbeing
2. Planning for Choices and Changes
3. Physical Education, Physical Activity and Sport
4. Food and Health
5. Substance Misuse
6. Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood
Attached are Year Group PSE Planners, demonstrating some of our own, and some externally produced resources.
