LEVENMOUTH SPORT SCOTLAND AWARD
The Levenmouth Academy PE Department and Fife Active Schools are delighted to officially announce that they have achieved Sport Scotland Silver School Sport Award (SSA) Status.
This award rewards the department for the offering of sport, physical activity, and young leadership opportunities they offer to young people during curricular, extra-curricular and community time and recognises them for their achievements.
Three members of the department, Sean Stewart (Teacher & PT Raising Attainment), James Stirrat (Teacher & PT Pupil Support) and Callum Reston (Levenmouth Cluster Active Schools Coordinator) carried out the self-assessment tool which asked the department to reflect on what they currently offer across eight key areas. These areas and what the department scored in each section are outlined below.
1. School Sport – 88%
2. Physical Education – 73%
3. Clubs and Communities – 69%
4. Competitive Opportunities – 64%
5. Celebrating Sport – 63%
6. Developing our pupils – 88%
7. Developing our deliverers – 35%
8. Recognising our people – 77%
The department now plan to review all eight areas and create an action plan to achieving 100% in each, which will allow our school to qualify for the Gold School Sport Award.
The department will also launch the #GoingForGold campaign through school social media channels once an agreed action plan has been put in place.
