    Learning for Sustainability

Learning for Sustainability is a whole school approach to education for sustainable development, environmental citizenship and outdoor learning. At Levenmouth Academy, we are taking three ideas seriously, but we have a long way to go before we are truly sustainable.

In 2017, staff decided to invest some Pupil Equity Fund money into creating an outdoor learning and sustainability project. By 2019, the project had gathered enough momentum to register itself as a charity and since then it has been supporting Learning for Sustainability at Levenmouth Academy. This initiative was started by teacher Duncan Zuill, who explored this aspect of education over 5 years while completing his M.Sc in Learning for Sustainability at the University of Edinburgh, funded by the Highly Skilled Workforce Programme.
