RMPS - National Classes
This course provides candidates with the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding in three sections of Religion, Morality and Philosophy, giving pupils the opportunity to widen and challenge their opinions, thoughts and beliefs, as well as developing an understanding of others.
The course also develops candidate’s literacy skills and teaches them to analyse, evaluate, debate and critically examine a variety of topics and issues in order to come to their own supported conclusions.
Course Content
There are three topics studied within the course;
- World Religion (for example, Islam)
- Moral Issue (for example, Morality and Conflict or)
- Religious and Philosophical Question (The Existence of God)
Assessment
National 3
- Unit passes in all three topics
National 4
- Unit passes in all three topics
- Added Value Unit
National 5
- The final exam will assess pupils on their knowledge of all three topics and makes up 80% of their overall grade. The exam is 2 hours and 20 minutes.
- The assignment makes up the other 20% of the overall grade. This is an independent research project on a religious, moral or philosophical issue. Candidates must carry out their own research and complete a written report under exam conditions.
