Library blog 13-05-19
As the term begins to edge closer to the summer holidays, senior phase students mostly in S6, begin to leave on conclusion of their exams. Our pupils in S6 through their volunteering have clocked up a massive 600+ hours. This help has been a fantastic help; invaluable even. Importantly, it has been a privilege to see them grow in their customer service skills, book repair skills and even have the confidence to answer the work-place telephone- especially if it is our headteacher on the other line too! Also, over the past few months revision has taken over the senior phase lives and- I have missed the help in the library and indeed their insightful conversation (if you want to know what is going on in the school ask a pupil!)
It is always touching whenever a thank you card is given and when the pupils collectively give you something like my out-going seniors have done who have made the library their home, it leaves you lost for words. Each individual item had an accompanying quote: the new stapler to replace the old one in the library, the mug for coffee, the notebook, the pencil case to replace the tatty library counter one. The pupils here have been amazing this term.
I wish them all well for their futures- and to keep on reading!
