Young Enterprise Success: Multi award winning

Throughout the year a small group of S5 pupils have been taking part in Young Enterprise Scotland. This gives pupils the opportunity to create a company and come up with a product that they have designed themselves. The team struggled to come up with an idea, however, with the help of the Technology and Design Department the group came up with the idea of a wall organiser. These wall organisers are designed with donated laminated flooring and wooden pegs. Each wall organiser is engraved with a meaningful quote, customers could also ask for a personalised one. The pupils wanted to use this unique design to stand out from any competition. Once they had come up with the product, we began to think about our branding. The team came up with the name ‘Peggies’ and went with a purple colour scheme to match with the school colours. They also decided they wanted to donate all proceeds to Gingerbread Fife as the product is aimed at families and they wanted to give to less fortunate families in the local area.

Young Enterprise gave all the teams in Fife the opportunity to take part in a Trade Fair, this year it took place at the Mercat in Kirkcaldy. At the Fair, the pupils performed very well and built on many skills such as communication, confidence and teamwork. They were very successful at this Trade Fair and continued to work hard for the Final Awards night. The pupils had to write a report and present a Presentation to a panel of judges on the night. This took place at the Dean Park Hotel, and the team surpassed our expectations and won many awards.
