AWARD WINNING NATIONAL SUCCESS IN PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION


A huge congratulations to Isla Thomson who won The Young Person's Choice Award at the Scottish Civic Trust - My Place Photography Competition recently with her beautiful photograph 'Tranquillity'

We have known for a while that Isla won but were not allowed to release anything publicly until the awards day held at The Lighthouse, Glasgow.  All pupils who entered the competition have their photographs on display now at the Lighthouse.

Isla Thomson, a S5 pupil at Levenmouth Academy has won The Young Person’s Choice Award from the Scottish Civic trust – My Place Photographic Competition with her photograph titled ‘Tranquility’  

Isla said “I am absolutely delighted to have won an award with my little cottage photograph.  I never imagined at the time I took it, that it would be worthy of an aware so I am over the moon that it has received such recognition”

The My Place Photographic Competition is a Scotland wide photographic project run by the Scottish Civic Trust for young people (4-18).  This year all entries had to include part of a Scottish building, there were entries from 438 young people with prizes for Primary and Secondary entrants.  All entrants photographic work is now on display at the Lighthouse, Glasgow. 

 

The Art Department are delighted for Isla, who is humbled at winning such a prestigious award.
